For the comically challenged...

More than you could ever want to know about the Fantastic Four's costar, The Silver Surfer. I have no idea if any of this back story is used in the movie, so read at your own risk. (Marvel Universe)

The Silver Surfer is one of the few (relatively) popular marvel characters that hasn't had any of his original charm sucked out of him through overuse. Apparently there was a company ban on the use of the character by anyone except Stan Lee for years, which is odd, because if his biography is accurate, Jack Kirby created the character and all Lee did was come up with the name.

In another post you mentioned Guy Maddin, and I thought you might enjoy the following link:

After seeing the movie and checking out some comics I think the Surfer could stand up to his own movie...see next post.
